Dystopias
You’ve probably dreamed about living in the “perfect Dystopias may sound like torture to you, but let’s look at it
world” your whole life, where you give no effort and this way. Try comparing utopias and dystopias. One is an
where everything is done for you. But what about the impeccable world that gives you anything you want from
opposite? In a world of nightmares and brainwashing, in it. The other is full of difficulties and misery. Now think
which you’re mind-controlled into thinking what you’re of how we talked about us living in a dystopian universe
experiencing is normal. Maybe it’s the end of humanity, and being unaware of it. A dystopian universe isn’t one
or monsters are chasing you. The worst version of our where a person can’t be happy, it’s one where you need
world you can think of with the worst possibilities. to overcome challenges to achieve happiness. A utopia
That’s what we call a “dystopian world” in fiction. It’s isn’t as exciting as it sounds. It’s boring and doesn’t teach
also the opposite of “utopia,” which is pretty much the a person their values of life. Sometimes you have to learn
perfect world I described to you at the beginning of the hard way. To sum it all up, dystopias are relatable and
this article. Dystopias give readers a sense of comfort. better than living in a perfect world.
Knowing they don’t live in a troubling world like the one
they’re reading about makes them feel relieved. While Lara Budak
reading or watching a dystopian story, we all have this
feeling inside us that we’re glad we aren’t there, and
being in a better state than the people in the story makes
it even more intriguing. We all think while reading “What
if I was in their place?” “What if I experienced the same
things they did? In a world of tragedy?” It gives us a
feeling of reassurance, safety, and satisfaction.
Although it sounds quite impossible, have any of us
considered that we could be living in an evolved version
of that dystopian book we were reading just now? For
one moment, take a look at what is around you. Think
of what’s currently happening in the world while you’re
reading this article. Does it seem flawless to you? You
live in a world where you’re tricked into believing
whatever the governments say to you, where people get
discriminated against, humiliated, and killed. Maybe it’s
not a place where everything is black and white or a place
where you aren’t allowed to make your own decisions,
but that doesn’t mean our world couldn’t count as a
dystopian one as well. Every dystopia is unique and
traumatizing in its own way. There are many famous
dystopias, some of which you’ve probably heard. Some
examples are The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, The
Giver, 1984, and the list goes on. As we all know, none of
these books are similar, but they are all still dystopias.
It would be wrong to set our mind to one thing and tell
ourselves everything is perfect in our universe.
