War and Peace
In these past couple of months, world tensions
seem to be at an all-time high. With terrorism
that rages on many places, we seem to be
living in terrible times. Right?
In today’s world it is easy to lose hope in
humanity and only focus on the bad things. As
mainstream and social media influences our
way of thinking we lose the ability to research
and gather information on our own. Contrary
to what the media wants you to believe world
is increasingly becoming a better place day by
day.
In 1989 the term “long peace” was coined by
John Gaddis to identify the absence of conflict
between the nuclear powers during the Cold
War. 30 plus years later the term is still in
use despite the shift in its meaning. European
countries have not fought each other except
for a 10 day war between in 1956. The largest

each other since the Second World War. Such
a period of peace between the great powers
